
Rival networks ABS-CBN Corp. and GMA Network has claimed nationwide ratings lead for January in separate reports.
Based on data from Kantar Media, ABS-CBN said it captured an average national audience share of 44% against GMA Network’s 32%. Kantar uses a nationwide panel consisting of 2,609 urban and rural homes.
Meanwhile, GMA Network with figures from Nielsen said that it primarily dominated Urban Luzon and Mega Manila. It had a 35.5% average total day audience share in Urban Luzon, three points higher than ABS-CBN’s 32.1%
For Mega Manila, GMA said it had garnered a 36.4% average total day audience share, seven points higher than ABS-CBN’s 29.4%
In contrast to GMA which focused on urban areas, ABS-CBN’s ratings update also covered Balance Luzon, or all areas in Luzon outside Mega Manila, where it had an average audience share of 45% against GMA’s 36%.
ABS-CBN also trumped GMA in Visayas and Mindanao with 35 points. GMA’s ratings stood at 23% and 22% for Visayas and Mindanao, respectively.
