
The Armed Forces of the Philippines has launched what it calls as the country’s first radio station that can stream live broadcasts on mobile in the country.
Radio station DWDD 1134 kHz AM’s programs is streamed live on a a mobile-optimized website rather than as a dedicated app for Android or Apple iOS. As of the last quarter of 2013, the state-owned station says it is the first radio station to do so in the country.
DWDD’s decision has been prompted by the booming demand for online content by Filipinos now increasingly connected online.
Citing Google, DWDD said “media interactions today are on a screen, and businesses that allow users to interact with their brand across all platforms and on all devices are able to generate more engagement.”
