How does tennis and data analytics relate to one another?

In 2013, Australian Open and the Australian Open Series implemented a system that incorporated data analytics and business intelligence to engage the sport’s fans and guide participating coaches and players to communicate with the press. As a result, the fan-base increased 7% and the tournament now commands the highest paid-out prize reward in the sport.

At the two-day A+M Big Data event, Tennis Australia’s chief information officer, Samir Mahir will speak on the mechanisms of performing real-time analytics to increase audience engagement and support decision making.

Samir Mahir is responsible for establishing the organisation’s IT strategy. Mahir also worked on the delivery of effective solutions and innovations for the Open. Prior to joining Tennis Australia in 2011, he was with IBM for 12 years running its events team and served as a director of information technology at the United States Tennis Association.

Big Data will take place on 26-27 February 2014 at the Prince Hotel.

Early bird registration of USD 650 will close on 24 January 2014. Regular registration of USD 750 will apply after.
