A number of Malaysian Muslims have rallied together to start an online campaign to oppose Oktoberfest in Malaysia.

A Facebook page called Rakyat Malaysia Tolak Konsert Liar (Malaysians Against Wild Concerts) has been urging people to boycott the event. The page has garnered over 3,000 likes and actively posts news and details of unruly behaviour during Oktoberfest.

The page has also published venues of parties for Oktoberfest. This comes despite the event being promoted to non-Muslims.

Meanwhile a picture of a Carlsberg poster is also being shared by Arus Baru, an online movement which is in line with controversial Islamist group Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma).

The poster features a Bavarian bar maid with her chest coloured off (pictured).

Nonetheless despite the online protests, just earlier this week, The Sun Daily reported that Carlsberg executed a couple of cool marketing stunts and drumming up anticipation for the event.

Oktoberfest is held annually in Malaysia. The two biggest breweries in Malaysia Carlsberg and GAB often hold nationwide parties. Advertising + Marketing has reached out to Carlsberg and GAB for a statement.
