What was your first job?
My first job was with a telecom company where I worked in a department that focused on developing new applications for customers. This was the first time I realized the vast potential that high speed internet had to change the way we live, shop, work and play. I also worked at a management consulting company before joining ZALORA in 2012.
How do you wind down?
I do long-distance running, and recently took up rock climbing. I regularly swim and canoe as well. Exercising is a great way to take your mind off things for a while!
What is the biggest challenge in your current role?
The biggest challenge in my role is and will continue to be how we can constantly improve our customers' experience when shopping with us. There are many established and successful fashion e-commerce players in the market. As a relatively new-comer we do not take our customers' support for granted, and need to continuously strive to improve our products and our customers' shopping experience with us.
What are the perks of your current job?
Definitely the many talented, dedicated and fun people that I get to work with. It's also extremely rewarding to hear customers provide positive feedback from their experience shopping with us, and see our hard work pay off as the business grows.
How much online shopping do you do?
I am a firm believer that nobody can have too many pairs of shoes. Much of my online shopping time is spent in the shoes section. I often go online to buy electronics, movie tickets and air tickets when I need to travel.
If you could do something different, what would it be?
A teacher. It's a challenging job, but it must be extremely rewarding to see your students learn and grow with your guidance and support.
